Punjab News: The Punjab Government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, has announced several initiatives to promote the welfare and empowerment of Divyang persons. Following the Punjab State Advisory Board meeting, chaired by Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, key decisions were made to ensure accessibility, inclusion, and equal opportunities for individuals with disabilities.

In a significant move, the government pledged to make all state government buildings barrier-free within the next three years. The implementation of SIPDA (Scheme for Implementation of Persons with Disabilities Act) projects will also be fast-tracked, ensuring enhanced accessibility for Divyang individuals.
To streamline administrative processes, the government committed to clearing all pending Unique Disability Identity (UDID) cards within a month. Additionally, special camps will be organized across the state to facilitate the quick issuance of these essential cards.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by disabled athletes, the government has prioritized resolving grading issues under the Punjab Sports Policy. This initiative aims to provide equal recognition and support to athletes with disabilities, enabling them to thrive in their respective sports.
The Punjab Government plans to organize vocational training and job placement camps for Divyang persons, fostering their economic independence. Furthermore, land and housing priority under the RPWD (Rights of Persons with Disabilities) Act will be ensured, promoting a secure living environment.
Reaffirming its dedication, the Punjab Government emphasized its commitment to creating an inclusive, accessible, and equitable environment for all, ensuring Divyang individuals can lead dignified and empowered lives.
