Punjab News : Police Seize 7.5 Kg Heroin in Major Drug Bust

Punjab News: In a significant crackdown on trans-border narcotic smuggling networks, the Punjab Police’s Counter Intelligence Unit in Amritsar has apprehended two individuals and seized 7.5 kilograms of heroin. Alongside the drugs, the police also confiscated 16 live cartridges and a motorcycle used in the operation.

According to the DGP of Punjab Police, the operation was intelligence-led and revealed the use of drones to transport drugs from Pakistan-based smugglers. This sophisticated method highlights the evolving tactics of drug networks and the need for advanced countermeasures.

An FIR has been registered under the NDPS Act and Arms Act at the SSOC Amritsar. Investigations are ongoing to uncover both backward and forward linkages, aiming to dismantle the entire network involved in this smuggling operation.

The Punjab Police, following the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, remains committed to eradicating drug networks and making the state drug-free. This operation marks another step in their continued efforts to combat the drug menace and ensure the safety and well-being of the state’s residents.
