Punjab News: Chief Secretary Anurag Verma of Punjab convened a crucial meeting with all the deputy commissioners of the state on Sunday to assess the ongoing wheat procurement arrangements and evaluate the impact of unseasonal rains on wheat and other crops.

During the meeting, the chief secretary emphasized the importance of prompt action in ensuring the smooth procurement of wheat despite the challenges posed by adverse weather conditions. He directed all the deputy commissioners to ensure that the wheat crop brought by farmers to the grain markets is immediately purchased. Furthermore, he stressed the timely disbursal of payment for the purchased crop to the farmers’ bank accounts within 48 hours.
