The Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Transport Minister Dr. Ravjot Singh, has taken a major step towards sustainable transportation and women’s empowerment by promoting electric mobility across the state.
1,200 Diesel Autos Replaced, 200 Pink E-Autos for Women
In a significant move to reduce pollution and enhance urban transport, the state government has replaced 1,200 diesel-run auto-rickshaws with electric ones in Amritsar. Additionally, to promote safe and convenient transport for women, 200 pink e-autos have been introduced with a 90% subsidy, of which 160 have already been delivered.
Electric Buses to Strengthen Public Transport
To modernize and improve public transport, the government has announced the deployment of 347 electric buses across major cities, including Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, and Patiala. This initiative is expected to reduce pollution levels, improve fuel efficiency, and provide a reliable mode of transport for daily commuters.
Additionally, the government has planned electric bus services for the Mohali cluster, marking another step towards an eco-friendly and efficient transport system.
Commitment to Sustainability and Modern Transport
The AAP-led Punjab Government is committed to building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable public transport network. By replacing fossil fuel-based vehicles with electric alternatives, the government aims to significantly cut down on vehicular emissions, promote green energy, and enhance public transport accessibility.
With these initiatives, Punjab is setting an example in sustainable urban mobility, prioritizing both environmental conservation and women’s safety.
