Punjab News: In a significant move towards modernizing education infrastructure, Punjab’s Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains laid the foundation stone for the state’s first shooting range at Government Adarsh Senior Secondary School in Lodipur. This initiative is part of a broader reform aimed at providing state-of-the-art facilities in government schools, traditionally accessible only in model and convent institutions.
Punjab Education Revolution: New Facilities for Government Schools
The new facilities will include shooting ranges, hockey astro turfs, football astro turfs, and all-weather swimming pools. This development is expected to transform government schools into nurturing grounds for future Olympic athletes. The initiative underscores Punjab’s commitment to making sports and quality education accessible to all students, including those with special needs.
The Government Adarsh School in Lodipur will see an investment of Rs 4 crores for the construction of these facilities, including a new building and advanced shooting range equipment. In addition to the shooting range, astro turfs for hockey and football, and a swimming pool are being constructed. Professional coaches will be appointed to train students, and facilities will be available for students from nearby schools as well.
Further educational reforms include renovations and new facilities at other schools, such as the School of Eminence in Kiratpur Sahib, which is being renovated with a Rs 10.30 crore budget, and the Government School in Nangal, receiving Rs 5 crores for upgrades, including a new hockey astro turf.

The foundation stone ceremony was attended by various officials, including Dr. Sanjeev Gautam, Tehsildar Sandeep Kumar, and Deputy District Education Officer SP Singh, among others.
