Punjab News: The Punjab government has extended the deadline for farmers to apply for subsidies on Crop Residue Management (CRM) machinery until September 19, 2024. The Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare has reopened the portal to help farmers efficiently manage paddy straw using the latest technology.
Application Deadline Set for September 19, 2024
Punjab’s Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister, Gurmeet Singh Khudian, announced that farmers can now submit their applications for the subsidy online at agrimachinerypb.com until 5 PM on September 19, 2024. He urged farmers to make full use of the subsidy program for CRM machinery to manage crop residue effectively.
Over 21,000 Applications Received
The minister revealed that 21,830 applications have been received so far from farmers, cooperative societies, and panchayats for subsidies on CRM machinery for the Kharif season of 2024-25. The department has already issued 7,832 approval letters, and farmers have purchased 5,833 CRM machines.
Subsidy Details for Farmers and Panchayats
Under this initiative, individual farmers are eligible for a 50% subsidy on CRM machinery, while farmer groups, cooperative societies, and village panchayats can receive an 80% subsidy. Minister Khudian emphasized that the Punjab government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, has allocated ₹500 crore for the distribution of subsidized CRM machines and to implement other strategies aimed at addressing the issue of stubble burning in the state.
