Punjab News: The Punjab Government has invited applications from qualified and experienced legal professionals for the post of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) (Litigation) at the Secretariat level for the Department of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities. Applications are open until September 30, 2024, with detailed information available on the official websites punjab.gov.in and welfare.punjab.gov.in.
Dr. Baljit Kaur, Minister of Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities, emphasized the significance of this recruitment, stating that it offers a unique opportunity for legal experts to contribute to the department’s mission of ensuring justice and empowerment for marginalized communities in Punjab. The position also extends to the Department of Social Security, Women, and Child Development.
Eligibility Criteria and Selection Process
Applicants must hold a graduate degree with an LLB in first division and should have passed Punjabi at the matriculation level. Additionally, candidates must have at least three years of practicing experience in the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Chandigarh, or a similar duration of experience in the Legal and Legislative Affairs Department, Punjab/Advocate General’s Office, Punjab. Alternatively, retired officers from the Punjab Judicial Service are also eligible to apply. The age limit for applicants is set between 35 and 62 years as of the last date for application submission.
The selected candidate will receive a fixed salary or retainership fee of ₹60,000 per month. The tenure for the post is initially set for two years, with a possibility of extension up to five years based on performance.
Selection Process Based on Merit
The appointment process will be conducted by a government-appointed committee, which will assess candidates based on their LLB marks, weightage to LLM qualifications, relevant experience, and proficiency in drafting replies to writ petitions. Eligible candidates will be shortlisted following these parameters.

Interested candidates are required to submit their applications to the Director, Social Justice, Empowerment, and Minorities Department, at SCO No. 7, Phase-1, SAS Nagar, Mohali, by the deadline of September 30, 2024. Dr. Kaur also mentioned that late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
