Punjab News: Punjab has once again maintained its top position in contributing food grains to the national pool, accounting for 47.29% of the total wheat procured across India as of May 24. The state has supplied 124.21 lakh metric tonnes (LMT) of wheat out of the total 262.62 LMT procured at the minimum support price (MSP) during the current rabi marketing season (RMS) 2024-25.
Punjab Leads in National Wheat Procurement for Rabi Season 2024-25
Following Punjab, the other major contributors to the national wheat procurement are Haryana with 71.12 LMT, Madhya Pradesh with 48.04 LMT, Rajasthan with 10.13 LMT, and Uttar Pradesh with 8.96 LMT, according to the procurement data uploaded on the Food Corporation of India (FCI) dashboard.
Punjab’s significant contribution highlights its crucial role in ensuring food security for the nation. The state’s consistent performance in wheat procurement underscores the efficiency of its agricultural practices and the commitment of its farmers.
