Punjab News: In a significant development in the ongoing war against drugs, the Counter Intelligence unit of Punjab Police in Amritsar has successfully dismantled another international drug network. Acting on the directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the unit seized over Rs.1.07 crore in drug money and arrested two operatives linked to prominent foreign-based drug smugglers, Gurjant Singh alias Bholu and Kinderbir Singh alias Sunny Dyal.

Arrest and Seizures

Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, Gaurav Yadav, announced on Sunday that the arrested individuals have been identified as Dilbag Singh from village Lohka in Tarn Taran and Kamaldeep Singh from Patti in Tarn Taran. The police operation also resulted in the recovery of a money-counting machine, two mobile phones, and the impounding of a Maruti Swift car.

Intelligence Operation

The Counter Intelligence unit received information about the activities of foreign-based drug smugglers Gurjant Bholu and Sunny Dyal, who were reportedly running an organized crime syndicate involved in drug trafficking and illegal weapons distribution across the state. These smugglers had instructed their operatives to collect drug money and transfer it using the Hawala route.

Dismantling the Network

In an intelligence-based operation, police teams from Counter Intelligence Amritsar arrested Dilbag Singh and Kamaldeep Singh from a rented accommodation on Fatehgarh Churian Road, Amritsar. Preliminary investigations revealed that the arrested operatives were in constant contact with Gurjant Bholu and Sunny Dyal via encrypted social media platforms. They were tasked with sending the recovered drug money worth over Rs.1 crore through the Hawala route.

Government’s Commitment

The arrests and seizure underscore the Punjab government’s commitment to eradicating the drug menace from the state. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has vowed to make Punjab drug-free, and the recent operations by the police are a testament to this ongoing mission. The Punjab Police continues to work tirelessly to dismantle drug networks and bring those responsible to justice.
