Punjab News– In a significant operation against trans-border narcotic smuggling, Punjab Police’s Amritsar Commissionerate apprehended three individuals involved in an international drug trafficking network, seizing 1 kg of methamphetamine (Ice) and 1 kg of heroin. The arrests mark a breakthrough in efforts to curb the flow of illegal drugs across the Punjab border.
Seizes 1 Kg Methamphetamine and 1 Kg Heroin, Links Uncovered with Pakistan-Based Smugglers
Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the suspects, Karandeep, had previously resided in Dubai and Moscow before returning to Punjab, where he became involved with Pakistan-based smuggling networks. Police disclosed that Karandeep maintained connections with notorious foreign-based gangster Gurdev, also known as Jaisal, who is believed to be orchestrating operations remotely.
Punjab Police Makes Major Arrests in Trans-Border Drug Smuggling Operation
The investigation further revealed that drones were used to transport drugs from Pakistan, highlighting the sophisticated methods employed by these networks. The Punjab Police has registered an FIR under the NDPS Act at PS Airport, and investigations are underway to trace backward and forward linkages within the smuggling operation, aiming to dismantle the entire network and identify additional associates.
The DGP Punjab Police commended the Amritsar Commissionerate Police for their efforts, underscoring the commitment of law enforcement agencies to countering drug trafficking across borders.
