Punjab News: Punjab Police to Intensify Campaign Against Drugs: CM Bhagwant Singh Mann Announces New Measures

Punjab News— The Punjab Police is set to escalate its campaign against drug trafficking, with stringent measures being implemented to combat the menace. Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann announced that any drug trafficker caught will have their property seized within seven days. Additionally, any police officer found involved in the drug trade at any level will be dismissed immediately.

To address the shortage of police personnel, the state government plans to recruit 10,000 new police officers. The police force will operate with a mission-oriented approach, devoid of any commission-based operations. Significant transfers are being made to eliminate favoritism and familial ties within police stations, ensuring a more efficient and impartial force.

CM Bhagwant Singh Mann Announces New Measures

These decisions were made during a meeting with senior officials, where the Chief Minister emphasized the need for the police to connect with the public. Following the conclusion of the Lok Sabha elections, CM Mann held a meeting with DGP Gaurav Yadav at his residence, where he directed the police to engage more closely with the community.

As part of the new directives, police officers will be available in their offices from 11 AM to 1 PM to address public grievances on a priority basis. This initiative aims to enhance the responsiveness and accountability of the police force, ensuring that citizens' complaints are resolved promptly and effectively.

The announcement highlights the Punjab government's commitment to eradicating drug-related issues and improving law enforcement operations across the state.
