In a major success in the ongoing fight against narcotics, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Punjab Police has apprehended a key drug smuggler and seized a substantial consignment of heroin in a cross-border smuggling case. The arrest and recovery were part of a well-coordinated operation carried out by the Border Range unit in Amritsar.

The arrested accused has been identified as Hira Singh alias Hira, a resident of Village Khaira under the jurisdiction of Gharinda Police Station in Amritsar. Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the ANTF team intercepted and arrested Singh, recovering 18.227 kilograms of heroin from his possession.

Links to Pakistan-Based Drug Trafficker

Initial investigation has revealed that Hira Singh and his associate, Kulwinder Singh alias Kinda of Village Dauke, were working in close coordination with a Pakistan-based drug trafficker identified as Billa. According to police sources, the accused duo was actively involved in smuggling heroin from across the international border and distributing it within the state based on instructions from their handler in Pakistan.

Manhunt Underway for Associate

While Hira Singh has been arrested, a manhunt is underway to apprehend Kulwinder Singh, who is currently absconding. Authorities are conducting raids at multiple locations to track his whereabouts. The case is under active investigation to uncover the full scope of the smuggling network and identify all individuals involved.
