In a significant breakthrough under the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government, the Counter Intelligence unit of Punjab Police in Amritsar has successfully dismantled an international narcotics smuggling network with direct links to Pakistan. The operation, led by intelligence inputs, was announced by the state’s Director General of Police (DGP) on Tuesday.
Foreign-Operated Network Involved in Large-Scale Heroin Trade
According to officials, the drug network is operated by foreign-based smuggler Jassa and his associates who have strong links with handlers based in Pakistan. Their Indian link, Jodhbir Singh alias Jodha, a resident of rural Amritsar, was retrieving heroin consignments on instructions from these foreign handlers and distributing them across various locations in India.
