The bust came as part of an investigation into a rocket-propelled grenade (RPG) attack at Sarhali police station in Tarn Taran, police said.

Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said in a statement that the sub-module was allegedly operated by Yadwinder Singh Lander of the Philippines.

The arrested people have been identified as Kulbir Singh, Heera Singh and Davinder Singh, who are residents of village Chambal in Tarn Taran.

Yadav said that the police have also registered a case against Yadvinder Singh.

"With the recovery of fresh ready-to-use RPGs, the Punjab Police has successfully foiled yet another possible terrorist attack aimed at disrupting the peace and harmony of the state," the police chief said.

The development comes days after the arrest of five people and the detention of two juveniles for allegedly attacking the Sarhali police station building in Tarn Taran on December 9. This is the second attack in Punjab in the last seven months.

Yadav said that as part of an intelligence operation, the police laid a blockade on the Billianwala bridge in the district and arrested Kulbir Singh and Heera Singh, involved in the Sarhali RPG attack.

Tarn Taran Senior Superintendent of Police Gurmeet Singh Chauhan said that the accused have revealed during interrogation that they had supplied loaded RPGs on the instructions of Yadwinder Singh on the day of the attack.

Chauhan said that Yadvinder Singh also allegedly sent a tutorial video on how to operate the weapon to teenagers wielding RPGs.

During further interrogation, the accused revealed that he and Davinder Singh had hidden one more RPG on the instructions of their handler, Chauhan said.

The RPG and the launcher were recovered from a location identified by them on the banks of river Beas at Kedian village.

Davinder Singh, who was arrested, revealed that he was plotting another attack on the orders of Yadvinder Singh and Landa.

Chouhan said that the police is probing the front and back links of the case and more seizures and arrests are expected soon.
