Punjab Police has achieved a major breakthrough in its efforts against organised crime with the extradition of alleged notorious criminal Amritpal Singh, alias Amrit Dalam, from Moldova, according to AAP leader Anurag Dhanda.

Dhanda said the Punjab Police brought Amritpal Singh back to India from Moldova following a six-month-long operation named Operation Eastern Reach. He described the development as a major success for the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government.

According to Dhanda, the operation involved the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and OFTEC Punjab, whose coordinated efforts eventually resulted in the accused being brought back to India from Europe.
The development has been highlighted by the Aam Aadmi Party as an example of the Punjab government’s efforts to pursue alleged criminals even when they attempt to evade law enforcement by moving outside the country.
Dhanda said the extradition marks the first such extradition from Europe by the Punjab Police in the state’s ongoing efforts against organised crime. The operation reportedly required sustained efforts over several months before the accused could be brought back.
The AAP leader linked the development to the Mann government’s stated zero-tolerance policy against crime, arguing that criminals cannot expect to remain beyond the reach of Punjab law enforcement simply by hiding abroad.
The operation also highlights the growing importance of coordination between specialised police units and agencies involved in tracking alleged criminals operating from outside India. Such efforts are aimed at preventing fugitives from using international locations as safe havens.
