Acting on a specific intelligence input, the Tarn Taran Police has successfully busted a cross-border weapon smuggling module with alleged links to Pakistan. Two individuals, identified as Surajpal Singh and Arshdeep Singh, both residents of Village Lakhna, have been arrested in connection with the case.

According to a tweet by Punjab DGP, the police recovered six sophisticated firearms, including:

Two PX5 .30 caliber pistols

Four 9MM Glock pistols

Multiple live cartridges

Officials believe the weapons were smuggled into India from across the border and were likely intended for use in disruptive or criminal activities.

A Formal FIR haa been registered

A formal FIR has been registered, and investigations are currently underway to uncover the full network — including both backward and forward linkages — involved in the smuggling operation.

The Punjab Police reaffirmed their commitment to dismantling such cross-border modules and ensuring the safety and security of the state. Authorities suspect that the weapons may have been routed through traditional smuggling corridors, often used by terror outfits and arms traffickers operating with foreign support.

This development comes amid heightened vigilance along the Punjab border, where police and central agencies have intensified surveillance following several instances of drone-based arms drops and narcotics smuggling linked to Pakistan-backed elements.

Further details are expected to emerge as the investigation progresses.
