Punjab Police Busts Pakistan-Backed BKI Terror Module, Foils Attack Plans

Five operatives were apprehended from Tonk and Jaipur districts of Rajasthan, successfully averting further planned attacks

In a major breakthrough against Pakistan’s ISI-backed terror network, the Counter Intelligence unit in Jalandhar, in a joint operation with SBS Nagar Police, has busted a Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) module operated by foreign-based handlers Mannu Agwan, Gopi Nawashehria, and Zeeshan Akhtar, acting on the directions of Pakistan-based BKI operative Harwinder Rinda.

Five operatives were apprehended from Tonk and Jaipur districts of Rajasthan, successfully averting further planned attacks. The module had recently plotted an attack inside a liquor store in SBS Nagar and had been tasked to execute more strikes on the occasion of Independence Day.

An FIR has been registered at PS City Nawashehar

According to police, the arrested accused were receiving direct instructions from foreign-based handler Zeeshan Akhtar and BKI mastermind Mannu Agwan, who works in close coordination with Rinda. During the recovery process, one accused opened fire at police personnel and sustained injuries in retaliatory action. He has been admitted to Civil Hospital, SBS Nagar.

An FIR has been registered at PS City Nawashehar, SBS Nagar, under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Explosive Substances Act. The recovery from the accused includes one 86P hand grenade, one .30 bore pistol with two live cartridges, and two empty shells of .30 bore.

Punjab DGP reiterated that the state police remain committed to neutralising terror networks and ensuring peace and public safety.
