In a major breakthrough against organized crime, the Counter Intelligence wing of Punjab Police in Jalandhar has foiled a targeted killing plot allegedly orchestrated by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The police have arrested Himanshu Sood, a resident of Phagwara in Kapurthala district, who was reportedly working under the directions of a Dubai-based handler.

Police Sources Confirmed That Himanshu Sood, Along With Other Gang Member Opened Fire At A Hotelier In Haridwar

According to Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab, preliminary investigations have revealed that the accused was acting on instructions from Namit Sharma, a close associate of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi currently based in Dubai, UAE.

Police sources confirmed that Himanshu Sood, along with other gang members, had recently opened fire at a hotelier in Haridwar, Uttarakhand, acting on Namit Sharma’s instructions. He was allegedly assigned to carry out two more assassinations—one in Madhya Pradesh and another in Kapurthala.

Acting on a mix of human intelligence and technical surveillance, the Counter Intelligence team successfully intercepted and dismantled the module before the planned attacks could be executed, thus averting a serious threat to public safety.

Weapons Recovered

During the operation, police recovered:

One .30 bore PX3 pistol with 4 live cartridges

One .32 pistol with 3 live cartridges

An FIR has been registered at Police Station SSOC Amritsar, and further investigation is underway to identify other operatives involved and trace both forward and backward linkages of the module.

Punjab Police reiterated its commitment to dismantling gangster networks with international connections and ensuring public peace and safety.
