In a major crackdown on trans-border narco-smuggling, the Amritsar Rural Police achieved a significant success by recovering 6 kg of high-grade heroin and arresting two key drug traffickers. The consignment is believed to have been smuggled into India from Pakistan and was intended for distribution across Punjab.
Major Blow to Narco-Terror Network: 6 Kg Heroin Recovered
Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the police team intercepted two individuals — Gurditta alias Kalu and a man identified as Captain — near Village Bhakna in Amritsar while they were transporting the heroin consignment on a motorcycle. The timely action prevented the contraband from entering the state’s drug distribution network.
According to the Punjab DGP, the consignment had been dispatched by handlers based in Pakistan, underscoring yet another instance of cross-border narcotics operations backed by elements hostile to India.
Case Has Been Registered Under NDPS
A case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at Gharinda Police Station. One more accused is currently on the run and is being actively pursued by the police.
Officials confirmed that investigations are ongoing to uncover the broader nexus, including linkages to organized syndicates and routes used for cross-border trafficking.
This development comes amid heightened vigilance along the Punjab border, with security agencies intensifying efforts to dismantle Pakistan-sponsored narco-terror networks. Punjab Police reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating the drug menace and working toward a #DrugFreePunjab.
The arrests and seizure not only mark a substantial hit to smuggling operations but also send a strong message to traffickers operating under foreign influence.
