In a significant crackdown on trans-border drug trafficking, Punjab's Counter Intelligence unit arrested Balvir Singh, a resident of Attari, and seized 3 kilograms of heroin during an intelligence-led operation near the Indo-Pak border.

Confirming the breakthrough, DGP Punjab tweeted that a case has been registered under the NDPS Act at Police Station SSOC Amritsar.

Hunt On for Co-Accused and Wider Network

The operation not only led to the immediate recovery of the narcotics but also uncovered a broader smuggling nexus linked to Pakistan-based operatives. Efforts are currently underway to apprehend Harpreet Singh, the co-accused in the case, and to trace the entire supply chain fueling cross-border drug operations.

Investigators believe the network may be responsible for multiple past consignments that slipped through the porous border regions. Raids are being carried out at various suspected locations to dismantle the entire cartel.

Punjab Police Vows Relentless Crackdown

The Punjab Police, under the leadership of DGP, reiterated its firm commitment to dismantling drug cartels and making Punjab drug-free. Regular intelligence-based actions are being conducted across the state, with a special focus on the vulnerable border areas like Attari.

Officials urged citizens to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately. The administration also assured that strong action would continue to be taken against those involved in drug smuggling, regardless of their political or social connections, to protect the future of Punjab’s youth.
