In a major breakthrough against cross-border espionage, the Amritsar Rural Police, acting on intelligence inputs, have apprehended two individuals suspected of spying for Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). The Punjab Police's swift action has exposed a possible network of espionage with international links.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Gurpreet Singh alias Gopy Foji and Sahil Masih alias Shali. Preliminary investigation suggests that Gurpreet Singh was in direct contact with ISI operatives, and allegedly transferred sensitive information using pen drives.

Key ISI Handler Linked

The operation also led to the identification of the ISI handler involved in the case — Rana Javed, who is suspected to have orchestrated the network’s communication and data transfers.

During the raid, police recovered two mobile phones that were reportedly used to exchange messages with ISI agents across the border. The devices are now under forensic analysis to retrieve communication records and decode the extent of the espionage ring.

Wider Network Under Scanner

Authorities are now expanding the investigation to identify other potential collaborators and dismantle the larger espionage-terror network suspected of operating in the region. Officials believe this may be part of a broader attempt to compromise national security through intelligence leaks and subversive activities.

DGP: Zero Tolerance Toward Anti-National Acts

Taking to social media, the Director General of Police, Punjab, reiterated the force’s commitment to protecting India’s sovereignty. He stated that Punjab Police will not tolerate any form of anti-national activity and is determined to take all necessary steps against those involved in compromising national security.
