In a significant crackdown on organized crime, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Punjab Police, has successfully foiled a target killing plot masterminded by Canada-based terrorist Arsh Dala. Acting on precise intelligence inputs, the SSOC arrested two key operatives — Kawaljit Singh from Dharamkot and Navdeep Singh alias Hani from Badduwal.
According to a tweet by Punjab DGP, the arrested individuals were allegedly acting on direct instructions from Arsh Dala to assassinate rival gang members and extortion targets. The swift and intelligence-driven operation has averted what officials are calling a serious threat to public safety.
Weapons Recovered and FIR Registered
During the operation, the police recovered a Zigana .30 bore pistol along with 9 live cartridges from the accused. An FIR has been registered at the SSOC police station in SAS Nagar (Mohali) under relevant sections of the law.
Further Investigation Underway
Authorities have confirmed that further investigations are in progress to trace both forward and backward linkages of the module. The operation is part of a broader effort to dismantle networks operated remotely by gangsters and terrorists from foreign soil.
The Punjab Police, through this action, has reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to eliminating organized crime and ensuring peace, safety, and harmony across the state.
Sources within the SSOC confirmed that the module was in its final stages of planning, and a targeted killing was imminent had the police not intervened in time. The arrests have also led to the identification of several sleeper cells in the state, believed to be assisting in logistics, arms supply, and reconnaissance for such attacks.
The Punjab Police have intensified their campaign against organized crime and foreign-linked terror outfits in recent months, especially after a rise in cross-border criminal collaboration. Citizens are being urged to remain alert and report suspicious activity, as public cooperation is now seen as vital in counter-terror operations.
