In a major breakthrough against drug trafficking, Punjab Police's Counter Intelligence unit in Amritsar has successfully recovered an additional 3 Kg of heroin from an accused, Lovepreet Singh, following a disclosure statement by another accused, Harmandeep Singh. With this latest seizure, the total quantity of heroin confiscated in the case has now reached 13 Kg.

Swift Follow-Up Leads to Additional Seizure

Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) took to Twitter to announce that the additional 3 Kg of heroin was recovered from Lovepreet Singh at Bus Stand Khasa, Amritsar-Attari GT Road. This recovery follows the initial operation on February 18, 2025, where 10 Kg of heroin was seized from Harmandeep Singh based on secret intelligence.

Following the latest recovery, Lovepreet Singh has been arrested and formally named in the case FIR. The police have confirmed that further investigation is underway to trace other individuals linked to this drug smuggling network.

Crackdown Under NDPS Act, More Arrests Likely

An FIR has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), Amritsar. Punjab Police has reaffirmed its commitment to eliminating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety of the people of Punjab.

Officials stated that rigorous efforts are being made to identify the forward and backward linkages of the drug supply chain. The police remain vigilant and have intensified their anti-narcotics operations to curb smuggling activities along sensitive border routes.
