In a significant breakthrough against cross-border arms smuggling, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Punjab Police, in coordination with the Border Range, Amritsar, has arrested three close associates of jailed criminal Jugraj Singh. The operation led to the seizure of six sophisticated foreign-made weapons that were allegedly smuggled into India from across the international border.

Racket Operated from Jail via Advocate’s Clerk

According to the Punjab Director General of Police (DGP), preliminary investigations have revealed that Jugraj Singh, the alleged kingpin of the smuggling network, continued to run the operation from inside Goindwal Jail. He reportedly used his advocate’s Munshi (clerk) to coordinate the supply and distribution of illegal arms.

FIR Registered, Further Probe Underway

A case under the Arms Act has been registered at the Police Station ANTF in SAS Nagar (Mohali). Authorities are now working to trace the full extent of the network, including other potential operatives and the exact routes used to smuggle weapons into Indian territory.

Punjab Police Vows Continued Crackdown

Reaffirming its resolve, the Punjab Police tweeted:

"@PunjabPoliceInd remains firmly committed to dismantling illegal arms smuggling operations and ensuring the safety and security of Punjab."

This crackdown comes amid increasing concerns over the use of illegal weapons in organized crime and narco-terror activities across border regions. Investigations are ongoing, and more arrests are likely in the coming days.
