In a significant development under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Punjab Police has achieved a major breakthrough in their fight against organised crime. The Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), in collaboration with the SAS Nagar Police, has successfully arrested Mehfuj, also known as Vishal Khan. This arrest marks a crucial step in dismantling the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi-Goldy Brar gang, which has been involved in numerous criminal activities.
Mehfuj’s Role in Dera Bassi Shooting Incident
Vishal Khan was the mastermind behind the September 2024 shooting at an IELTS center in Dera Bassi, which had sent shockwaves through the region. He had been absconding ever since the incident and was on the run for several months.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Vishal Khan had been working under the guidance of Goldy Brar, a foreign-based terrorist and notorious gangster. This connection highlights the dangerous international links these criminal organisations maintain. Further inquiries indicate that Vishal had planned to commit a crime in the Tricity region, continuing his criminal activities under the direction of Brar.
Additionally, the accused had connections to another criminal, Joginder (Joga), who is known for providing weapons and logistical support to the individuals involved in the infamous Sidhu Moosewala murder case. This further reinforces the complex network of criminals that Punjab Police is actively working to dismantle.
Recovery of Weapons and Ammunition
As part of the operation, police recovered a pistol along with five live cartridges from Vishal Khan. This seizure is another win for Punjab Police in their ongoing efforts to prevent the circulation of illegal arms and protect public safety.
Punjab Police’s Commitment to Public Safety
Punjab Police, under the strong leadership of CM Bhagwant Mann, remains dedicated to ensuring the safety of its citizens. The arrest of Vishal Khan is a prime example of how the state is combating the growing menace of gangsters and their criminal activities. The government’s resolve to eliminate organised crime and restore peace to the state remains unwavering.
