Punjab provided food grains to the Country despite flood-like conditions, but the central government broke its promise: Chief Minister Mann

CM Bhagwant Mann slams the Centre for withholding Punjab’s ₹1,600 crore dues, asserting that despite feeding the nation, the state receives only false promises and unfair treatment.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann leveled serious allegations against the central government, saying that the state fulfilled its responsibility by providing 15 million metric tons of rice and 125 million metric tons of wheat to the country, but the central government reneged on its promise.

Chief Minister Mann said, “Punjab’s farmers worked day and night for the country’s food security. We filled the central government’s warehouses. But what did we get in return? Only empty promises and empty promises.”

He pointed out that the central government had promised ₹1,600 crore, but not a single rupee was sent. “It was just a mere promise and they left,” the Chief Minister said, reacting strongly.

Mann further said that the central government is talking about cutting the ₹1,600 crore from the ₹1,600 crore that every state should receive under other schemes. “What kind of justice is this? They’re telling us our rights in the name of promises,” he said.

The Chief Minister stated clearly that the central government wants to suppress Punjab. “But Punjab is now in our hands. We are not suppressed and will not let ourselves be suppressed,” he stated firmly.

He assured the farmers that the state government will fight for their rights on every front. “Punjab’s farmers feed the country, and we stand with them,” Mann said.

The Chief Minister demanded that the central government immediately pay Punjab’s dues and end its step-motherly treatment of the state. He said that Punjab’s voice cannot be suppressed any longer.
