The Punjab Vigilance Bureau (VB) has arrested Additional Superintending Engineer (ASE) Sukhwinder Singh Multani, posted in Jalandhar, for accepting a bribe of Rs 15 lakh and demanding another Rs 20 lakh. This action has been taken on the complaint of Sharanjit Singh, storekeeper of PSPCL Verka. The accused officer was earlier posted as Executive Engineer (XEN) Technical Audit in PSPCL Jalandhar.
Action taken on the basis of audio-video clip
In this regard, the complainant lodged an online complaint in audio-video form with evidence on the Chief Minister’s Anti-Corruption Action Line. VB spokesperson said that the complainant has alleged that the above official had already taken Rs 15 lakh as bribe while being XEN for sending the inspection report of store inventory in his favor and based on the stock verification report, the complainant was has been suspended. The complainant said that the accused was demanding another Rs 20 lakh to restore his job. The complainant has recorded the entire conversation as evidence. Which has been handed over to the Vigilance Bureau for investigation.
Corruption case registered
The spokesperson said that the Vigilance has investigated the allegations leveled in the online complaint and found the above PSPCL official guilty of taking a bribe of Rs 15 lakh in three installments and demanding another Rs 20 lakh from the complainant. Case has been registered. In this regard, a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused officer at Vigilance Police Station Amritsar and he has been arrested. He said that further investigation is going on in this matter.
