They did so while Rahul Gandhi and co. were reportedly off-stage and out of sight. The video has sparked public indignation, and the political disputes have become fiercer as well.
Congress Responds by Giving a Step Back and a Partial Apology
The resistance caused by the incident made Congress take some distance from the words. Rashid Alvi condemned the language and declared that the party doesn’t approve of such behavior. Simultaneously, a local Congress organizer involved in the platform receiving process issued a straightforward apology, indicating that he was not present at the time of the incident but had responsibility for the event.
BJP Accuses Congress of Going to the Lowest Political Level
The BJP accused the Congress-led rally of the occurrence of uncivilized political discourse, based on which they claimed that the insult of the family of the Prime Minister, with special emphasis on his mother, was the vilest of the low acts. A few BJP leaders not only called the behavior disrespectful to PM Modi but also to Indian cultural and democratic values.
