Rajasthan govt to give smartphones to 1.35 crore women enrolled in Chiranjeevi scheme

Smartphones for women: The Rajasthan government said in the legislative assembly that it was all set to provide smart phones to women heads of the families that fall under its Chiranjeevi scheme.

The smart phones will be equipped with internet connections for three years and will be distributed under the Mukhya Mantri Digital Seva Yojana.

Budgetary provisions made

Education Minister B D Kalla announced this in reply to a question in the Assembly during the Question Hour. He said the state government had made budgetary provisions for the scheme to distribute smart phones.

More than 1.37 crore families in the state have been registered under the Chiranjeevi health insurance scheme till January 30 this year.

Internet connectivity on phones

The scheme has provisions to provide smartphones with internet connectivity for three years to women heads of 1.35 crore families enrolled in the Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme.

The government wants to complete this process at the earliest so that the scheme can be implemented before the assembly elections next year.
