The election campaign of political parties for the elections to be held in Karnataka on May 10 has gained momentum. The Congress has sent one of its star campaigners, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, to advocate the party's model of good governance in the south. In this sequence, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday campaigned for the Rajasthani migrant population in Mangalore, Bengaluru. There are about 4 lakh Rajasthani migrants in Karnataka, of whom about 1.5 lakh vote. They constitute about 4 per cent of the state's voting population. Every vote will count for the Congress in the closely fought Karnataka elections.

Last week, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while leading the BJP's election campaign, attacked the Rajasthan Congress twice in three days. On the last occasion, he had said that voting for the Congress would mean a government with internal strife. PM Modi cited Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh as examples. Gehlot has replied to PM Modi on this. Gehlot said that the BJP is also divided in Rajasthan and that the party's model of governance is to topple elected governments". He cited Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Manipur as examples, but his efforts have failed in Rajasthan.

He said, "The BJP lost the money it had invested in trying to topple the Congress government in Rajasthan."

Gehlot said, "Wherever the Congress government is formed, the Rajasthan model will be implemented to take care of all sections of the society."

He said, "Social security should be a national issue. Rajasthan has done its job, we have the right to health, the most comprehensive health insurance scheme."
