CM Ashok Gehlot asks criminals either to quit crime or leave Rajasthan

In a stern message, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot issued a strong warning to criminals, urging them to either renounce their criminal activities or leave the state of Rajasthan. He emphasized that no one involved in criminal actions would be exempt from consequences. Gehlot highlighted that Rajasthan holds a leading position across the nation in terms of police responsiveness following criminal incidents, as well as the efficiency in filing charge-sheets and conducting prosecutions.

“We are making all possible efforts and innovations to keep law and order strong in the state and to deal with the challenges. The responsibility of maintaining law and order and providing justice to the victims rests on police.Strict action has also been taken against policemen found involved in crime. Under Mission-2030, a roadmap for police will be prepared,” said Gehlot.

The CM said the average time the state police take in investigating a case is continuously decreasing

Addressing a law and order review meeting held at the police headquarters, Gehlot expressed his confidence that the Congress party would regain power in the state. During the meeting, a moment of silence was observed by Gehlot and police officers as a mark of respect for Constable Prahlad Singh, whose passing had been reported.

“The average investigation time in rape cases has come down from 208 days in 2017 to 59 now; in SC-ST cases, it is down to 65 days from 128 days in 2019. Rajasthan has become the leading state with a 45.2% conviction rate in cases of atrocities against women against the national average of only 26.5%. Thirteen people have been sentenced to death in POCSO cases,” said Gehlot.

“I have also instructed the officers to pay special attention to social media, especially for hate and violent content,” he said. “BJP leaders are unnecessarily defaming Rajasthan across the whole country on law and order whereas the reality is different,” he added.

Gehlot said registration of an FIR does not necessarily mean crime has increased

“Although there is a rise in the number of FIRS, we are not worried about it. We are concerned with complainants getting justice,” he said, “alarming and democracy is in danger”.

Gehlot also criticized the BJP, accusing the party of betraying Rajasthan by failing to deliver on their promise of granting national project status to the ERCP (presumably a development project). This assertion highlights the growing dissatisfaction with the BJP’s actions in the state.
