Vande Bharat Train: Indian Railways (IR) is planning to further enhance connectivity in Rajasthan by introducing a new Vande Bharat Express train on the Jodhpur-Delhi route. The upcoming semi-high-speed train will be operated and maintained by the North Western Railway (NWR) zone, aiming to strengthen regional connectivity and boost the local economy.
Indian Railways to Launch New Vande Bharat Express Train Between Jodhpur and Delhi
Rajasthan’s first Vande Bharat Express train, operating between Ajmer and Delhi, was flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on April 12, 2023. It was India’s first semi-high-speed passenger train running on high-rise overhead electric (OHE) territory and significantly improved access to major tourist destinations such as Ajmer Sharif Dargah and Pushkar.
Currently, four pairs of Vande Bharat trains operate in Rajasthan on these routes:
- Ajmer-Chandigarh-Ajmer
- Jodhpur-Sabarmati-Jodhpur
- Udaipur-Jaipur-Udaipur
- Udaipur-Agra Cantt-Udaipur
The new Jodhpur-Delhi Vande Bharat Express is expected to reduce travel time by more than an hour, offering passengers a faster and more comfortable option. A senior railway official told IndianExpress.com, “There is a plan to launch a new Vande Bharat train between Jodhpur and Delhi.”
This addition reflects Indian Railways’ commitment to improving intercity travel infrastructure, especially in Rajasthan, where tourism and business travel are key economic drivers. The enhanced speed and convenience of Vande Bharat trains are expected to contribute positively to both business connectivity and tourism development in the region.
As the project moves forward, Rajasthan residents and frequent travelers are eagerly awaiting the launch, which promises to revolutionize travel between the state and the national capital.
