Jaipur Serial Blasts Case: Rajasthan Govt To Move SC To Challenge Acquittal Of 4 Men

In the Jaipur Bomb Blast Case, the state government will appeal against the decision of the High Court in the Supreme Court. Regarding this, the state government will file a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court. Its decision was taken in a high-level meeting held at CMR late on Friday night. In a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, he said that the Rajasthan High Court has acquitted all the accused, overturning the 2019 district court verdict.

Along with this, the Chief Minister has also decided to terminate the services of Additional Advocate General Rajendra Yadav, who was appointed to appear in this case.

The CM said that it is the intention of the state government that the culprits get the harshest punishment. That’s why the state government will soon file a Special Leave Petition (SLP) in the Supreme Court against the decision of the High Court. In the high-level meeting, Chief Secretary Usha Sharma, Principal Government Secretary Home Anand Kumar, Director General of Police Umesh Mishra, ADG SOG-ATS Ashok Rathod, ADG Crime Dinesh MN, ADG Intelligence S. Sengthir and Principal Government Secretary Law Gyan Prakash Gupta and Secretary Home (Law) Ravi Sharma were present.

High court had acquitted 4 accused

In the Jaipur bomb blast case, on 20 December 2019, the judge of the special bomb blast court, Ajay Kumar Sharma, had convicted the four accused Mohammad Saif, Sarwar Azmi, Salman and Saifur Rahman. Sharma had sentenced these four convicts to death. At the same time, giving benefit of doubt to the accused Mohammad Shahbaz Hussain, who claimed responsibility for the blasts in the name of Mujahideen, was acquitted. But on March 28, 2023, while giving its verdict on the appeal of the convicts, the High Court acquitted all the four accused, terming the theory of ATS wrong in the whole case. The High Court heard the case for about 48 days.

Serial bomb blasts took place in Jaipur on May 13, 2008

About 15 years ago, on May 13, 2008, 71 people were killed in serial bomb blasts in Jaipur one after the other. In these, 185 people were injured. In this regard, 4-4 FIRs were registered in Manak Chowk and Kotwali police station of Jaipur. In 4 cases, the person who planted the bomb could not be traced. Out of total 11 accused in the blast case, 5 were arrested by Rajasthan SOG. One of the accused was arrested by the Delhi Police in 2018. While three accused Mirza Shadab Baig alias Malik, Sajid Bada and Mohammad Khalid are still absconding. Two accused Mohammad Atif Amin alias Bashir and Chhota Sajid Batla have been killed in the encounter.
