Nuh police file case against Rajasthan police

The pregnant wife of one of the five men accused of killing two Rajasthani men whose bodies were found charred inside a car on February 16 was allegedly assaulted by unidentified police personnel from the Rajasthan Police, according to a criminal complaint filed on Tuesday by the Haryana Police.

The case was filed when Kamlesh Pandit, who was nine months pregnant at the time, was allegedly assaulted by policemen from Rajasthan who barged into their home on February 17 and caused a miscarriage, according to the family of Shrikant Pandit, a member of the Gau Rakshak Dal. The accusations were denied by Rajasthan Police.

30 and 40 Rajasthan Policemen came and attacked her

The mother of Shrikant Pandit, Dulari Devi, claimed that between 30 and 40 Rajasthan Policemen came into her daughter-in-home law’s in Maroda village at 3.30 am on February 17 and attacked her.

“Kamlesh was nine months pregnant. We pleaded with the police, some of whom were in plain clothes, but they abused us, assaulted us, and took our two sons with them,” Devi said.

When police came to the house, Srikant Pandit was not there. Vishnu and Rahul, Devi’s sons, came back later after being questioned by the police.

Kamlesh was thrown to the ground, according to Devi, where she fell on her stomach. “She was screaming in pain but they left her in a pool of blood and went away. By the time we reached the hospital, doctors informed us she had miscarried,” she said.

Haryana, police have filed a case under sections 312 and others

At the Nagina police station in Haryana, police have filed a case under sections 312 (causing miscarriage), 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (assault), 354 (using criminal force against a woman with the intent to offend her modesty), and 452 (trespassing into a house after preparing to be hurt, assaulted, or wrongfully restrained).

The National Commission of Women took notice of the situation, according to senior Haryana Police officials, and wrote to them requesting that they take the necessary steps.

The “foetus” was exhumed by Nuh police on Sunday, and a postmortem report was made, but the reason of death is still not known.

Superintendent of police, Varun Singla, Nuh, said, “We are verifying all the facts and details. Despite the post mortem report, the cause of death is still not clear which is why we have sent the viscera to the lab for further investigation.”

These claims was denied by Rajasthan Police, who noted that they were always accompanied by Haryana Police officers when they went to Haryana in connection with the case.

Director General of Police for Rajasthan, Umesh Mishra, remarked, “The Rajasthan Police have always been accompanied by their Haryana counterparts. Lawful action has been taken as per prescribed procedure, and no human rights have been violated.”

Usha Kundu, ASP, Nuh, stated that although their teams had been with Rajasthan Police, they had left after showing them around Pandit’s house. “We are unaware of what happened after that. We are conducting an investigation,” she said.
