PM Fasal Bima Yojana: The sudden changes in weather conditions in several parts of Rajasthan have created big problems for farmers. Heavy rain along with hailstorms has caused massive damage to the crops. However, the state’s farmers could reap the benefits of an insurance claim under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana if the report is submitted within 72 hours of the damage caused.

PM Fasal Bima Yojana-The Scheme
Under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana, the farmers of Rajasthan are protected against natural calamities like rainfall. If rabi crops are kept by farmers in the field for drying after harvesting and damages are caused, they are entitled to avail compensation under the PM Fasal Bima Yojana.
According to the State Agriculture Department, farmers are included under the insurance coverage if crops kept in the field for up to a maximum period of 14 days after harvesting get damaged due to unseasonal rain or any natural calamity.
To avail the compensation under the insurance facility, farmers of the state are required to submit a claim for crop damage within 72 hours of the damage caused. All insurance companies have been instructed by the Rajasthan Government to immediately start field surveys on receiving such information. This is done to ensure that the actual loss could be correctly assessed before timely payments of the insurance claims are made.
How To Get A PM Fasal Bima Claim?
Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, the state’s farmers are given coverage for crop loss. If the losses happen due to natural calamities, the claim is paid by the insurance company.
Losses could be communicated on the helpline number 14447. Information could also be shared on the Krishi Rakshak Portal. Farmers may also inform the insurance company with which they have been registered under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana.
