Rain In Parts Of Rajasthan, 2 Killed By Lightning Strikes In State

According to the weather service, light to moderate rain and dust storms have been present in some areas of Rajasthan over the past 24 hours.

On Wednesday night, two separate lightning strikes in the Dholpur district resulted in the deaths of two boys and the injuries of three others. According to authorities, two shelters were completely destroyed, along with the items and straw stored within.

They said that Ankush Sharma, 20, killed as a result of lightning as he and his brothers were seated in a hut close to the house in the Sadpur hamlet of Dholpurm.

According to the police, Ankush’s brothers Rahul, Rohit, and Mohit, who were seated next to him, also sustained injuries, but their conditions are not critical.

Another incidence included Gajendra (24), who was killed by lightning in the Dholpur district’s Foospura hamlet.

According to the police, Gajendra went to the toilet on Wednesday night. He sought refuge in a neighbouring straw shed when it started to pour fiercely. Gajendra was killed by burns after the straw caught fire owing to lightning.

On Wednesday, the maximum temperatures were marginally higher across a significant portion of the state.

The meteorological (MeT) department’s data shows that during the previous 24 hours (up until 8 am on Wednesday), 320 mm of rain were recorded in Bhopal Sagar of Chittorgarh, 250 mm in Bassi, 170 mm in Kapasan, 100 mm in Bhilwara Tehsil, 96 mm in Bhilwara, 70 mm each in Kunwaria of Rajsamand, Khanpur of Jhalawar, Bhains.

On the other hand, from morning until evening, 31.5 mm of rain was reported in Karauli, 3.5 mm in Dholpur, and 1.4 mm in Pilani of Jhunjhunu.

The maximum temperature on Wednesday in the state was recorded at 43.2 degrees Celsius in Sriganganagar, according to the MeT department, while it was 43 degrees Celsius in Tonk, Churu, and Kota, 42.3 degrees Celsius in Dholpur, 42.2 degrees Celsius in Sangaria of the Hanumangarh district, 42 degrees Celsius in Sawai Madhopur, and 41.8 degrees Celsius to 38.3 degrees Celsius in other significant locations.

A spokeswoman stated that several areas of the Jaipur and Bharatpur division are expected to experience thunderstorms and rain throughout Thursday.
