Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023: BJP Forms ‘Damage Control’ Committee in Rajasthan After Ticket Denials

Rajasthan Assembly Election 2023: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Rajasthan has created a “damage control” committee to address the grievances of ticket aspirants who were not nominated in the party’s first list. This move comes after several leaders expressed disappointment at not receiving nominations and raised concerns of potential internal discord within the party.

Rajvi asserted that his criticism was not directed at Diya Kumari

One prominent leader, Narpat Singh Rajvi, a three-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) and the son-in-law of former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, was left unhappy after the BJP fielded Diya Kumari in the Vidhyadhar Nagar constituency, which Rajvi had represented in the past. Senior party leaders have made efforts to pacify Rajvi and his family, who felt the decision was disrespectful given the forthcoming observance of Shekhawat’s 100th birth anniversary on October 23. However, Rajvi asserted that his criticism was not directed at Diya Kumari.

To manage the disgruntled leaders, the “damage control” committee, chaired by Union minister Kailash Choudhary, has been tasked with addressing concerns and maintaining party unity during the election campaign. The ticket distribution process is prone to generate rebellion among hopefuls who do not secure nominations, making it crucial for the committee to pacify such leaders. As the BJP continues its preparations for the upcoming Rajasthan elections, managing internal discord and keeping the party united is a key priority.
