Rajasthan News– Traffic has officially commenced on Rajasthan’s longest and most advanced ring road in Jodhpur. The 105-kilometer-long ring road is being developed in phases, with approximately 75 kilometers completed in the first phase. This major infrastructure project aims to improve connectivity and significantly reduce travel time around Jodhpur.
Enhanced Safety Features
The ring road, which circles Jodhpur, is equipped with state-of-the-art safety features. Electronic Communication Booths (ECBs) with SOS phones have been installed every two kilometers. In the event of an accident or emergency, these booths allow travelers to immediately contact the control room for assistance.
“Upon receiving a distress call, ambulances stationed at the control room will be dispatched immediately,” said officials overseeing the project. Additionally, high-tech cameras have been installed every five kilometers to monitor traffic conditions and enhance road safety.
Reduced Travel Time
The new ring road is expected to drastically reduce travel time around Jodhpur. Previously, it took approximately 1 to 1.25 hours to travel around the city. With the completion of the ring road, this journey can now be completed in just 40 minutes.
“The new infrastructure will alleviate the traffic congestion within the city, providing a smoother and faster travel experience for residents and visitors alike,” officials added.
Connecting Major Highways
The first phase of the ring road, which spans 74.619 kilometers, connects five national highways: Jaipur, Nagaur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, and Pali. This connectivity will allow heavy vehicles to bypass the city, thereby reducing traffic congestion and the risk of accidents within Jodhpur.
Previously, large vehicles traveling from Jodhpur to Pali had to wait until 9 PM to pass through the city after obtaining the necessary permits. Now, these vehicles can utilize the ring road and link roads to reach their destinations more efficiently, saving both time and fuel.
Infrastructure and Construction
The four-lane ring road is constructed using concrete, with advanced machinery worth ₹12 crores deployed to ensure rapid and efficient paving. This machinery, known as the PQC paver machine, lays cement-concrete mix quickly and effectively.
