Rajasthan News: Rajasthan Cabinet Approves Amendments to Land Conversion Rules

In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, the Rajasthan government approved significant amendments to the Rajasthan Land Revenue (Conversion of Agricultural Land for Non-Agricultural Purposes in Rural Areas) Rules, 2007.

Key Decisions Taken

1. Simplification for SC/ST Farmers:
   • The amendment provides relaxation for Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) farmers seeking land conversion for renewable energy projects such as solar farms, solar power plants, wind farms, and wind power plants.
   • Instead of mandatory recorded access to the plot, a self-declaration by the farmer about the existence of an access route will now suffice.
2. Promoting Renewable Energy:
   • This change is expected to boost renewable energy projects by easing procedural hurdles for farmers belonging to marginalized communities.
   • It aims to encourage greater participation of SC/ST farmers in Rajasthan's expanding renewable energy sector.
