Rajasthan News: In a significant move towards addressing water scarcity, the Rajasthan government under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhajan Lal, backed by the dual engine government (a term often used to describe the combined force of the state and central government when both are led by the same political party), has embarked on the historic Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP). This ₹45,000 crore venture promises to revolutionize irrigation and drinking water supply across the state.
Rajasthan Embraces Watershed Moment with ERCP Initiative
Prime Minister Narendra Modi's election guarantees are swiftly materializing into double benefits for the people of Rajasthan. The Modi administration has not only reduced petrol and diesel prices nationwide but also decreased VAT by 2% in Rajasthan, delivering dual savings to over seven crore residents. Additionally, the implementation of a uniform fuel rate across the state has eradicated price disparities between districts, with border areas standing to gain the most. As a result, VAT on fuel in Rajasthan has been reduced from 31.04% to 29.04%.
The fulfilment of PM Modi's pre-election promises is evident
The fulfilment of PM Modi's pre-election promises is evident, whether it's resolving the long-pending ERCP issue or fulfilling employment commitments to the youth. The MOU for ERCP has sealed Modi's guarantee of water security for Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, addressing a dispute that lingered for two decades. This project, by linking the Parvati, Kalisindh, and Chambal rivers, ensures water availability for irrigation over 5.80 hectare of agricultural land in 26 districts across both states for the next three to four decades.
