The Rajasthan government, led by Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma, is set to introduce a mobile app-based attendance system for all government employees across the state. Under the new system, IAS officers and government staff will be required to mark their attendance via a mobile application, ensuring better accountability and efficiency in the workplace.
Implementation Awaiting CM’s Approval
The Administrative Reforms Department has prepared a proposal for the new system and has sent it for Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s approval. Once sanctioned, the system will be implemented statewide.
Stricter Office Timings & Monitoring
As per the new attendance regulations, all government employees will be required to be present in the office from 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. The mobile attendance system will enable real-time tracking of punctuality and work discipline.
Already Functional in Select Departments
The mobile attendance system is not entirely new to Rajasthan. It has already been implemented in departments such as power companies, municipal corporations, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA), and the Animal Husbandry Department. Now, the government is planning to extend it to all state employees.
Why the Change?
The government believes that this system will increase transparency, improve accountability, and enhance efficiency in state administration. By monitoring attendance digitally, officials hope to streamline workflow and reduce absenteeism.
Demand for Equal Rules for All Officials
Currently, IAS officers are not required to mark attendance, whereas Rajasthan Administrative Service (RAS) officers and other employees sign attendance registers. Gajendra Singh Rathore, president of the Akhil Rajasthan Rajya Karmachari Sanyukt Mahasangh (Integrated), has emphasized the need for equal rules for all. "Employees mark their attendance daily, so IAS officers should also be included in the system. The rules should be uniform for everyone," he stated.
With this new policy, the Rajasthan government aims to bring a more disciplined and transparent work culture in government offices, ensuring equal responsibility across all levels of administration.
