Rajasthan News: The health department in Rajasthan is taking steps to create a new cadre of Nurse Practitioners in Midwifery (NPM) to provide advanced and compassionate reproductive, maternal, and newborn healthcare services in government hospitals. A meeting under the National Health Mission was convened to discuss this initiative.
Rajasthan to Establish New Cadre of Nurse Practitioners in Midwifery for Enhanced Maternal Care
Two training and education centers will be established in Jaipur and Udaipur to prepare candidates in midwifery. The plan is to launch the six-month midwifery course on November 15. The department aims to train 4,400 Nurse Practitioners in Midwifery in the near future.
- NPM professionals will focus on promoting women’s health
The new cadre will improve access to skilled care in government hospitals, with the primary goal of reducing maternal deaths and infant mortality. NPM professionals will focus on promoting women’s health, especially during their childbearing years, and ensuring the well-being of newborns.
