The Rajasthan State Road Transport Corporation (RSRTC) is set to enhance its bus fleet with the introduction of 250 buses equipped with Bharat Series (BS) 6 engine technology. Scheduled to commence operations on January 1, these buses aim to contribute to the reduction of air pollution in the National Capital Region (NCR).

Key Points:

  1. BS-6 Engine Technology Implementation:
  • RSRTC has readied 250 buses incorporating BS-6 engine technology to operate on routes within the NCR.
  • The move aligns with the government's initiative to combat air pollution by enforcing stricter emission standards.
  1. Current Fleet Status:
  • Presently, 304 buses are already operational on the designated routes.
  • The corporation plans to reshuffle the remaining buses within state depots to ensure that all buses comply with the BS-6 engine technology standard.
  1. Deployment Strategy:
  • RSRTC officials affirmed that the existing 250 buses with BS-6 engines would be dedicated to Delhi-NCR routes.
  • Ongoing assessments are being conducted to determine the feasibility of shifting buses from other depots within the state to these routes until additional BS-6 engine buses are procured.
  1. All India Permits:
  • The corporation is obtaining All India Permits for RSRTC buses, allowing them to enter the NCR starting January 1.
  • Buses with these permits will contribute to increased connectivity and transportation options within the region.
  1. Environmental Impact:
  • Buses equipped with BS-6 engines are recognized for their lower emissions compared to older technologies such as BS-3 or BS-4.
  • The adoption of BS-6 emission standards is a crucial step in controlling vehicular emissions and mitigating air pollution.

The introduction of these environmentally friendly buses underscores RSRTC's commitment to sustainable and eco-friendly public transportation in the NCR, aligning with national efforts to combat air pollution and promote cleaner technologies.
