The Rajasthan Education Department will conduct an online lottery today, April 9, to allot free admission seats under the Right to Education (RTE) Act for the academic year 2025–26. This year has witnessed a surge in applications, with 6,000 more entries compared to last year.
Over 3.14 Lakh Students Apply for Free Admission, Lottery Results Out Today
In a significant development aimed at promoting equitable access to quality education, the Rajasthan Education Department is set to conduct the admission lottery for RTE free admissions on April 9. As many as 3.14 lakh applications were received from across the state, surpassing last year’s figure of 3.08 lakh. These applications have been made for entry-level classes—nursery and grade one—in approximately 31,500 private schools.
The department had invited online applications from March 25 to April 7 for free admissions
The department had invited online applications from March 25 to April 7 for free admissions under the RTE quota. As per the norms, each applicant could choose up to five schools. This led to approximately 9.90 lakh school choices being registered. The lottery will be conducted today at 10:30 a.m. by Rajasthan Education Minister Madan Dilawar at the Shiksha Sankul.
Interestingly, despite a large number of applications, nearly 4,500 private schools in the state received no applications at all. This highlights the clear preference of parents for reputed and well-established institutions over lesser-known private schools. The lottery will determine the priority order of selected students, and parents of successful candidates will be required to complete online reporting to the respective schools by April 15.
The next stage involves document verification by the schools from April 9 to April 21, followed by a window for parents to correct any errors in the submitted documents until April 24. A final verification by schools will be completed by April 28. The actual seat allotment under the RTE scheme in private schools will take place on May 9.
This initiative continues to be a vital step in ensuring that economically weaker and disadvantaged groups in Rajasthan have access to quality education through private institutions.
