Rajasthan Weather Update: The intense cold wave gripping most parts of Rajasthan has significantly disrupted daily life, prompting the issuance of cold alerts in eight districts by the Meteorological Department. Minimum temperatures have plummeted in various regions, with Fatehpur near Sikar recording a minimum temperature of 1.6 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.

Other districts like Karauli (3.3°C), Sikar (4.5°C), Pilani (3.6°C), Alwar (2.8°C), Chittorgarh (5.5°C), and Bhilwara (4.4°C) have also experienced a substantial drop in temperatures. The Meteorological Department predicts no significant changes in minimum temperatures for the next 4 to 5 days.

Impact on Transportation:

  1. Flights Delayed: The adverse weather conditions have led to flight delays, notably at the Jaipur airport. A recent incident involved a flight bound for Delhi, which had to hold for about an hour before eventually returning to Jaipur due to poor visibility. Passengers are now facing inconvenience at the airport.
  2. Train Trip Cancellations: The cold wave has forced the cancellation of several train trips between Rajasthan and the Delhi region. Trains affected include the Rewari-Delhi Special Rail Service (Train No. 04469), Jaipur-Delhi Kent Rail Service (Train No. 19701), Delhi Kent-Jaipur Rail Service (Train No. 19702), Shriganganagar-Tilak Bridge Rail Service (Train No. 14727), Bhiwani-Tilak Bridge Rail Service (Train No. 14737), Tilak Bridge-Bhiwani Rail Service (Train No. 14738), and Tilak Bridge-Shriganganagar Rail Service (Train No. 14728). The cancellations are scheduled for various dates in January.

The disruptions in transportation and daily life highlight the severity of the cold wave's impact on the state. Travelers are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts and transportation announcements to plan their journeys accordingly.
