In a significant move dedicated to the safety and welfare of women, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma reaffirmed his government’s commitment to women’s empowerment at the state-level Women’s Conference in Udaipur. Marking the completion of the government’s first year in office, the Chief Minister outlined various initiatives aimed at improving the safety, education, and welfare of women and girls in the state.
Strengthening Women’s Safety
Fulfilling its promise from the election manifesto, the state government has approved 1,000 posts for women constables to bolster security measures. CM Sharma announced the creation of 500 Kalika Patrolling Units to prevent incidents of harassment at public places. In the first phase, 250 units have been sanctioned, alongside the launch of a 24/7 women’s safety app and the RSRTC Command Center’s panic button project, providing emergency police assistance to women.
Women’s Empowerment Initiatives
Highlighting the government's achievements, Sharma emphasized that a strong and respectful status for women is crucial for a prosperous society. He said, “Women play a pivotal role in shaping values, culture, and humanity, starting from the family.” The government launched the Lado Protsahan Yojana, offering savings bonds worth ₹1 lakh to girls born into economically weaker families. The first installment of ₹2,500 was distributed to 100,000 beneficiaries under this scheme.
Economic Support for Families
To alleviate financial burdens, Sharma announced that since January 2024, eligible families have been receiving LPG cylinders at ₹450. Subsidy amounts were transferred to beneficiaries via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) during the event.
Commitment to Education
The CM reiterated the importance of educating girls to ensure their active participation in society and national progress. These efforts underscore the government’s focus on creating a safe, inclusive, and empowered environment for women across the state.
The conference served as a platform to celebrate achievements and outline the government's future vision for women-centric development.
