Early Saturday morning, relentless rainfall caused a devastating landslide in the Dharamkund area of Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district. The incident led to flash floods in a village near the Chenab River, wreaking havoc across the region.

Initial reports confirm the death of at least 2–3 people, with fears that the toll may rise. Over 20 homes have been reduced to rubble, while around 25–30 other houses suffered partial damage. Dozens of vehicles were either buried under debris or swept away by the rushing water. The road connecting several hamlets was washed out, cutting off access to nearby areas.

Despite the chaos, authorities acted quickly. Local police and rescue teams from Dharamkund successfully evacuated nearly 100 villagers to safety. Efforts are ongoing to clear debris and restore connectivity.
