In a significant move to curb rising pollution levels in the national capital, Delhi Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa has announced a series of stringent measures aimed at improving air quality. These initiatives include restrictions on older vehicles, mandatory installation of anti-smog guns, and cloud seeding to induce artificial rain when pollution levels reach severe levels.

Addressing the issue, Sirsa stated that after March 31, fuel will not be provided to vehicles that are older than 15 years. This step is aimed at phasing out aging automobiles, which are among the major contributors to pollution in Delhi.

Additionally, the government is set to enforce the mandatory installation of anti-smog guns at key locations, including:

✅ Big hotels and office complexes

✅ Delhi Airport

✅ High-rise buildings

✅ Large construction sites

✅ Commercial complexes across Delhi

These anti-smog guns will help in reducing dust and particulate matter in the atmosphere, a primary cause of the deteriorating air quality in the city.

Cloud Seeding to Tackle Severe Pollution

In a groundbreaking decision, the Delhi government is also planning to seek approval for cloud seeding technology. This technique, which involves inducing artificial rainfall, will be used when pollution levels spike beyond control. “We have decided to take necessary permissions and ensure that when pollution reaches severe levels, artificial rain can be triggered to bring relief," Sirsa stated.

These measures highlight the government’s strong commitment to tackling pollution and ensuring cleaner air for Delhi’s residents. With the increasing focus on sustainable solutions, the capital is set to witness a major transformation in its fight against air pollution.
