Delhi Metro Announces Security-Led Changes Ahead of Republic Day: The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has issued an advisory detailing changes to metro operations on January 23 and January 26 due to heightened security arrangements for the Republic Day full rehearsal and the 77th Republic Day celebrations.
Six Metro Stations With Entry and Exit Restrictions
According to the DMRC advisory, entry and exit at specific metro station gates will remain temporarily closed from 3 am until the conclusion of the official programme on both dates. This does not mean a full station shutdown, but certain gates will be inaccessible.
DON'T MISS
Affected stations include:
- Central Secretariat (Gates 3 and 4)
- Udyog Bhawan (Gate 1)
- Lal Quila (Gates 3 and 4)
- Jama Masjid (Gates 3 and 4)
- Delhi Gate (Gates 1, 4, 5)
- ITO (Gates 3, 4, 6)
Commuters are advised to use other gates at the same stations if available, and plan journeys ahead to avoid last-minute inconvenience.
Services Will Still Run Across the Network
Despite the gate restrictions, metro trains will continue to operate across the rest of the network as per schedule, subject to ongoing security requirements. DMRC has stressed that only selected gates are affected.
This approach aims to ensure smooth crowd management and safety while allowing lakhs of passengers to travel during the Republic Day period. Security personnel will be deployed at these key stations to guide commuters.
Tips for Commuters During Republic Day Weekend
- Expect early-morning travel adjustments on both January 23 and January 26.
- Follow official DMRC announcements and social media updates.
- Allow extra time for journeys if your route includes Central Delhi areas near Kartavya Path.
