AAP MP Malvinder Kang Demands Renaming of New Delhi Railway Station After Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji
Kang emphasized that renaming the iconic railway station after the ninth Sikh Guru
Addressing the Parliament, Kang emphasized that renaming the iconic railway station after the ninth Sikh Guru would serve as a powerful tribute to his sacrifice and legacy. “By naming the New Delhi Railway Station after Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, millions of passengers from across the country would have the opportunity to learn about his life, teachings, and supreme sacrifice for religious freedom,” Kang said.
The AAP MP highlighted that such a move would not only honour Sikh history but also promote national values of courage, unity, and spiritual tolerance that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji stood for.
The demand comes ahead of the 350th Shaheedi Diwas (martyrdom day) of the Guru, an occasion being observed with great reverence by the Sikh community across the world. Kang urged the Union Government to consider the proposal seriously, stating that it would be a matter of pride and respect for the entire nation.
This appeal has found support among Sikh leaders, community organisations, and several social groups advocating for greater recognition of Sikh contributions in India's public spaces and national symbols.
